One of my favorite quotes states: ŇChildren are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.Ó Immortality comes from the positive impact we may have on the lives of the children. One of the benefits of working in the field of education is the opportunity to start fresh every year. We start with freshly prepared classrooms, new teachers, classmates and a whole new set of skills, ideas and knowledge to acquire. Each fall, we can endeavor to make the new year better than all the ones that preceded it as we travel on our journey through life and into that future.  There is much to be accomplished to prepare these students for a world that will be vastly different in the thirteen years it will take for them to complete their education at Annville-Cleona. The administration and teachers are actively engaged in analyzing our data and each building is developing a plan for school improvement. That analysis drives the plans for changes in instruction and staff development as we endeavor to keep our students and schools progressing down that road. Additionally, we want our students to understand they do not travel on the road alone and that much is gained through collaboration and consultation with others. To that end we the community; parents, neighbors, friends, businesses, community leaders must all coming together to pave the way by sharing our skills and good example. This year, we will be working hard to engage more of the members of the community and have them involved in our schools. We have started a school business partnership to provide opportunities for our businesses to be involved. The Dutchmen Education Foundation is gathering a list of projects to foster the growth of our children and celebrate their success. The parent teacher organizations and booster clubs continue to provide support and guidance to our students and we continue to expand out opportunities with Lebanon Valley College. There arenŐt any benches along the road and we must continue to travel on in the journey. As your superintendent of schools, I am looking forward to sharing this yearŐs journey with you.  LetŐs help our children to dream big but help them to realize that the dream is just the beginning.  The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan, and we want our children to take their dreams, create a plan, and set their goals for the future. I encourage you to be a part of the journey and to take every opportunity to achieve immortality by sending a positive message to the future through a child.
